True Food Kitchen, is a restaurant that provides a menu based on fresh, mostly organic anti-inflammatory ingredients like: ginger, turmeric, dark chocolate, Asian mushrooms, 100% whole grains, tropical fruits and colorful veggies.
The Skinny…
Making its debut in Phoenix, AZ in 2008, True Food Kitchen has several locations popping up in California, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, NYC, Colorado, Tennessee, Arizona, and Illinois. Environmentally conscious True Food Kitchen offers Vegan, Vegetarian and gluten-free menu items (all of which include anti-inflammatory ingredients) for brunch, lunch, and dinner. I visited Atlanta’s eco-chic location.
What I Like…
Aside from the full bar, eco-friendly, green backdrop, and recycled/reclaimed decor there isn’t just one or two items for Vegans to choose from. There are several – including Shiitake and Organic Tofu Lettuce Cups and the Tofu Burrito.
What I Love…
Besides the yummy drinks with playful, catchy names like Kale-aid, Vanilla Lemongrass, Bright Eyes, and AB&J (almond milk, dates, banana, almond butter, and flax), True Food has set the bar high for healthy, Vegan-friendly foods that are tastier than any meaty grub.
A dish called Winter Ingredient (brussel sprouts, cauliflower, mulberry, squash, and white bean salad) and Andy’s Fav “TLT” (a Vegan rendition of a traditional BLT) are popular, but my personal favs are:
Roasted Seasonal Vegetable Board with Avocado Green Goddess Dip & Pimento Cashew Spread
Miso Soup
Kale Crunch (avocado, cabbage, watercress, radish, almonds, chili garlic dressing)
Teriyaki Tofu Bowl (tofu, shiitake, broccoli, avocado, carrot, brown rice, and quinoa)
With the claim “Honest food that tastes really good,” True Food Kitchen definitely has this Vegan bellowing its praises.
