Game Day Raw Fruit/Veggie Tray
Have you ever bought a packaged item and felt as though the packaging was too nice or appeared too multi-purpose to just discard?
I recently bought a box of peaches from Trader Joe’s. Yes, I could have just tossed it into the recycling bin or left the packaging at the store and just bagged the peaches, but there was no guarantee that Trader Joe’s would have re-purposed the packaging, although I would like to think that they would.
I decided to wipe down and re-purpose the entire box and liner, teach my girls a lesson about recycling, and provide some nutritional benefits on the first Sunday of the regular, pro-football season.
As I pat myself on the back (literally) for being a Triple Threat Super Mom, check out this snack tray for the family on the much anticipated Game Day.
Fill your tray with raw fruits, veggies, and your favorite hummus for dipping. Mine included sweet red peppers, carrots, grapes, broccoli, raw French green beans, multi-colored grape tomatoes, and cucumber strips.
Let your little ones help you fill it and you can almost guarantee that they will graze on it while watching their favorite team play. Studies show that when kids help in the kitchen, they are more likely to enjoy what they make with you.
And look what my oldest decided to do with the box…
