Are you like me and miss The Oprah Winfrey Show?
Back in the day, when I was at home taking care of my two little ones full-time, it was my “go-to” everyday at 4:00 pm sharp. My kids would even babble her name when they heard the opening music to her show or saw that fierce “big hair” walk the stage.
One of my favorite Oprah segments was her infamous, “Oprah’s Favorite Things.” It was my opportunity to see the latest and greatest in food, gifts, home accessories, and personal care items.
In honor of that favorite pastime, I decided to “channel my inner-Oprah” by offering readers and better-health enthusiasts, WVL’s “Stuff I Love.”
Veganism is becoming so mainstream (hallelujah!) As a result, companies are jumping on board and competing for your Vegan dollars. The market is flooded with so many options that not only cater to plant-based dieters, but omnivores as well.
Every once in a while, I’m introduced to an amazing product that I think is worth sharing, even if you’re not a Vegan or Vegetarian. Some items are so amazing that they deserve their own product “shout out.”
If you happen to miss a post (shame on you), check out the above WVL category entitled, “Stuff I Love.” Here, I’ll stockpile a list of my previously posted favs.
Most of the products in this section are not only Vegan-friendly, but many use non-GMO ingredients and are void of all things artificial, which is a “win, win.”
Today, I’m highlighting 2 products that are a-mazing! They were both briefly mentioned during the very first week of the launching of my blog.
Remember these?
Yes, the first is our old friend, Garden Sea Salt Veggie Straws by Sensible Portions.
The Skinny?
They’re not potato chips, but sure do replace that crunchy chip craving without adding the fat-laden guilt.
Garden Veggie Straws have non-GMO ingredients, have no trans fats, 0 cholesterol, have no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, and have 30% less fat than most potato chips. A 1-oz bag is only 140 calories and 7 grams of fat. Spinach, tomato, potato, and beetroot make this snack a healthy choice.
Next on the list is Bare Foods’ Fruit Chips.
The Skinny?
Here’s another, healthier potato chip replacement. These wonderful snacks only have 1 or 2 recognizable ingredients. That’s why I love them. The Cinnamon Apple Chips (our favorite) have 2 ingredients – apples and cinnamon. The Banana Chips are simply bananas and nothing else. The sweet flavor is built in so there are no added sugars. If that doesn’t convince you, how about this – – they’re gluten-free, use non-GMO ingredients, have 3-4 grams of fiber per serving, and 0mg of cholesterol and sodium. Unlike chips, they’re baked, not fried (eliminating the saturated fat) and they have no preservatives.
I will not confirm or deny my involvement in eating an entire bag of Apple Chips, but these things are so guilt-free that if I was so inclined to eat an entire 4 oz bonus-size bag (the equivalent of 6 apples) of these tasty snacks, I would only be eating 385 calories, 0 g of fat, 0mg of sodium, and a whopping 14 g of fiber. Try that will a 4 oz bag of plain potato chips and you will be packing on 640 calories, 40 g of fat, a measly 4 g of fiber and a whopping 680mg of sodium.
Side Note: Dip the Banana or Granny Smith Apple variety in peanut butter and watch your tastebuds rejoice!
I hope you enjoy these favs as much as I do!
